Chaïm Soutine - Nature Morte aux Harengs

520 SEK

Description

A poster from Louisiana Museum of Modern Art with the artwork Still Life with Herring by the painter Chaïm Soutine (1893–1943), published in connection with Louisiana’s 2024 exhibition. The image is from Soutine's early years in Paris, marked by deep poverty. Hunger is a recurring theme, and his first still lifes perhaps best reflect these years of hardship.

Chaïm Soutine was born in what is now Belarus and is considered one of the leading expressionists of the so-called Paris School. It is fitting that with this exhibition in Humlebæk – the first ever in Northern Europe – he will gain a new and larger audience.
