      Description

The Berber Sofa Table is born from a meeting of cultures and materials – a design dialogue between the tactile world of Berber traditions and the geological poetry of Swedish limestone. Inspired by the distinctive aesthetic of the Atlas Mountains, it is a refined study in cultural form and material storytelling.

The tabletop is made from limestone quarried in Kinnekulle, Sweden, where the same family has practiced traditional stone-cutting techniques for generations. The stone’s character varies with its geological age, revealing rich tones and subtle fossilized patterns – each slab a fragment of deep time.

At the pinnacle lies the hand-chiseled “tooth-cut” version: a rippling surface where every groove is struck by hand. This intricate process, requiring hours of labor and precision, results in a surface alive with human presence – impossible to replicate by machine. The base is crafted from solid walnut, its geometry complementing the textured stone with understated strength. Together, they form a piece that is both grounded and elevated, raw and refined.

Berber Sofa Table is a tribute to craftsmanship, cultural continuity, and the beauty that emerges when hands shape matter with reverence.

      Produced in Sweden.

      Material
Solid oiled walnut, Red Rose limestone from Kinnekulle, Sweden.

The tabletop is made from limestone quarried in Kinnekulle, Sweden, where the same family has practiced traditional stone-cutting techniques for generations. This ensures that they know exactly how each stone was created and handled. Limestone is a fantastic and living natural material, and the stone's character varies with its geological age, revealing rich tones and subtle fossilized patterns. Each slab has a unique pattern.

The base is handcrafted from solid walnut, which offers a quiet strength that harmonizes with the textured stone. A premium hardwood known for its deep, rich color, fine grain, and exceptional strength. Its natural tones range from light chocolate to dark brown, often with beautiful streaks and a subtle sheen that deepens over time. It's gently oiled by hand, giving it additional depth.
