The Spoke-Back Sofa 1793

The Spoke-Back Sofa 1789, from Fredericia, was designed by Børge Mogensen, 1945. Mogensen designed a hybrid of a daybed and a chaise longue, with a hinged side. While the Spoke-Back Sofa was acclaimed for its innovative approach, it was considered too sophisticated for post-war tastes. It wasn’t until 1963 that the sofa was put into industrial production. Exemplifying Mogensen's idea of a multi-purpose sofa.
